WHAT IS GENERATION GALWAY?

Foróige members and James Madison students worked together to tell a story unique to the youth growing up in Galway. With written narratives, a short film, and photo galleries, this website showcases the final products created from the time spent with each other.

A few things we considered…

INTERCULTURALISM

We looked at the different cultures and processes of integration represented in Ireland as well as the exchange and intertwining of ideas, norms, and traditions.

GLOBALIZATION

We examined the impact of globalization in terms of connectedness and cultural representations – the interactions and integrations happening on a global scale.

IDENTITY

We contemplated what makes us who we are, how others perceive us, and how we view ourselves – our identities are continuously shaped and influenced throughout our lives.

COMMUNITY

We gave thought to those around us and the similarites and differences we posses in aspects of culture, heritage, perspectives, interests, characteristics, and social spheres.

Foróige

“Foróige is the leading youth organisation in Ireland and has been working with young people since 1952. Our purpose is to enable young people to involve themselves consciously and actively in their development and in the development of society.”

GENERAL SERVICES

Operating in over twenty-five counties in Ireland, general services include Foróige Clubs, Foróige Juniors, Foróige Interest Clubs, and Foróige Youth Cafés.

GOALS

To build self-esteem and confidence, manage personal and social relationships, provide learning opportunities, and aid in making informed decisions.

James Madison University

“Set in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, JMU is a tight-knit community of 22,000 undergraduate and graduate students and 4,000 faculty and staff who come from across the country and around the world. JMU is fast becoming one of the nation’s leading lights in higher education.”
