Riley was raised in Newtown Square, Pennsylvania which is part of the Philadelphia western suburbs. She is a sports fan whose aspirations include working for a user experience design company for websites. Riley is Vice President of the Association for Women in Sports Media club at JMU.

She is focusing in both Journalism and Digital Video Cinema, and is heavily involved with communication research and facilitation. She currently works as a producer for a radio station in Charlottesville,Virginia and is a student reporter on her campus. Her goal is to one day work in the radio or television industry as a news reporter.
